The story of Alexander’s newborn session starts off with how I actually became a newborn photographer. When my son, Ryder, was born, I was working on my photography skills and wanted to do his newborn session. I did a lot of research about newborn photography, brought the props I would need. While I love images as a mom, as a photograph I knew I still had a lot to learn. I lined up a couple of skill building sessions. One was just a month later and the next was the following year. They were a lot more difficult than I had expected, and I wasn’t sure if newborn photography was for me. In fact, I had pretty much given up on it and decided that I would specialize in families and babies (just not newborn babies). Early 2012, Alexander’s sister, Adrianna, was born and I decided to give it one more try. She was a great sleeper and things flowed much easier. I was able to get some images that I was really proud of and felt like I was getting the hang of it. A couple month later I did one more skill building session and it went well also. I was hooked! I continued building my portfolio of newborn photography and now they are my favorite subjects to photograph.
