One of my favorite things about being a newborn photographer is the time I get to spend with these families and their new additions. If you have ever had a newborn session done, you know they take quite a bit of time as well as a lot of patience. I’m at your house for a few hours and it has looked like I’ve moved in by the time I unpack my portable studio. Lucky for you everything comes back with me and your living room, turned temporary studio, will soon go back to just your living room. For those hours that I’m there, I get to chat and get to know these families. It’s a calm, warm (umm very warm) environment with the sound machine going and a (hopefully) sleepy baby. Having three young children myself, there’s plenty of things to talk about. From breastfeeding, to diapers, to how tiring it is having a newborn.
Baby Abigail was just a doll at her newborn session in Southbury. She wasn’t fond of sleep at first and was curious about everything that was going on. Big sister was also very curious about what was going on in her home. She was the cutest and happily posed for me while I tested out the lighting. Isn’t she adorable?
Posing a newborn and a toddler can be tricky. Toddlers have minds of their own — ohhh boy do they have minds of their owns. Some want nothing to do with their new little sibling, at all. Others are curious but there’s no way they’re letting the baby touch them. Then there are those that are a little too comfortable with the baby. It’s always a challenge to say the least, but a challenge I am up for. This time I lucked out, and big sister was a perfect model for a sibling portrait during her sister’s newborn portrait session. I love it!
Aren’t the itty bitty newborn toes the best?
