I was so excited to hear from Axton’s mom about doing a cake smash session for Axton’s first birthday. I photographed Axton as a newborn at his home in New Haven, CT just over a year ago. He was just 10 days new and so tiny…and sleepy. Now he is a one year old. He likes to crawl all over the place. He has the cutest little smile. I just love seeing all the changes that are made in a year. Axton’s photography session was a little different than my normal cake smashes. We first did a family session at Edgerton Park in Hamden, CT. Once we had finished with the family portion, we went into the cake smash, still outside at the park.
Axton’s grandparents were visiting so we made sure to get a picture of him with both sets of grandparents!
Their dog Ella came too! This is my favorite family picture!

Axton wasn’t so sure what he thought of his cake at first. He looked at it, and poked at it. Soon enough he realized that he could eat it. Or make a mess out of it :). I love that he was in his “Sunday bests” for the cake smash. I picked up part of a tree stump right before the session. I thought it was very fitting for an outdoor cake smash!

I am currently booking newborn, baby, and maternity sessions through the end of the year. Newborn sessions take place at my residential studio located in Newtown, CT. It’s 10 minutes off of I84. Newborn sessions are being booked as far out as Feb 2016! I will always do my best to fit in last minute newborn sessions.
